Our DNS server changed (unbeknownst to us) and we worked all night long working with our host to get it back and running. We’re located in the same building as before but now on the south side of the building on the lower level. We’re in the process of doing some upgrades to the place and will be staining the concrete and painting the walls in the near future. Amari’s taking the reigns on that project since I can’t do too much due to my pregnancy. I actually swung by there today to see how everything looked with all our furniture and equipment in there. It’s more cozy than the other space and I think it’ll be real nice once everything’s put together in their respective places.

Anyway, yes, we’ve been busy. Amari’s doing a lot of post production work on editing projects that he’s working on, not to mention all our other photography projects. It seems like we purchase 1TB drives every month just to back up everything. . . I’m getting close to investing in a server or a RAID or storage solution. This is nuts!

We’re also moving studios so we’re busy trying to get everything in order for Fall season. Our current studio space of 1100 sq ft is way too big for us. Although it’s been a nice space we wanted to downsize to a smaller and more different space. This one will have concrete floors rather than hard wood. At least for now. :-) Once Amari gets into a groove he’ll have it in a whole other shape and form.

I can’t believe we finally put it up! THE WEBSITE IS UP!!

It’s been a long few months since we acquired the site. We’ve just been going back and forth on what pictures to display, what music, the colors, etc., etc. . . Man, what a relief!!

The new site incorporates a client proofing area so that clients can view and order their proofs on a secured site. It’s about the same as I had it before except this time no third or fourth party hosting. . . Can’t wait!

I think when it comes to having kids of your own you truly start to comprehend this concept. We closed out 2007 in an unusual way, commissioned to photograph a funeral was one. Tuning down a commission to photograph Mos Def and Goapele was another. But I think that the most ironic thing, matter of fact, the most unfortunate thing that we had to do was to photograph my nephew who passed. He was one of the small percentage of stillborn births, grown strong and healthy for approximately 37 weeks but didn’t get the opportunity to breathe life.

I’ve been able to distance my personal emotions when it came to the environment or subject of what we were shooting. However, I am human and this cracked it for me. It’s been rough for me emotionally.

They named him Brylan Jacob and I had the opportunity to give him his wings (although, he already has them :-) )
